Introduction

This feature will allow for the following:

  • Configuration of the SNMP agent on the sipXecs platform
  • Configuration of which alarms can be sent via SNMP using the existing alarm notification group mechanism

sipXconfig UI design

Support for basic SNMP management.

This will be implemented in a new web page which can be accessed from sipXconfig->Diagnostics->SNMP (Fig.1). The following SNMP management features are considered for implementation: a) Check box to enable/disable SNMP agent (Fig.2). b) Provision to configure the SNMP community strings and their access privilege (Fig.3 & 4).

Support for SNMP in the Diagnostics->Alarms->Notification groups of sipXecs:

  • A new link to add SNMP trap receiver will be provided in the Notification group web page (Fig 5). This will provide text boxes to configure the trap receiver address, the community string and the port (default: 161) to be used to communicate with that trap receiver. There will be support for configuring multiple SNMP trap receivers.

The Alarm MIB

The Alarm MIB has to be stored in the sipXecs and there should be a provision in the sipXconfig to download the MIB. This MIB will be loaded to the Trap receivers to enable them to properly understand the trap messages. A link (called Download sipXecs MIBs) will be provided in sipXconfig->Diagnostics->SNMP->Agent Configuration web page to download the MIB’s (Fig 1).
