SIPfoundry Sponsorship Programs Overview

SIPfoundry, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization dedicated to the development and adoption of open source Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based communication solutions, is the industry's premier community focused on Internet Protocol (IP) telephony, messaging, presence and collaboration. SIPfoundry's projects focus on all aspects of IP communications based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), initially encompassing user agent solutions (SIP UA SDK, softphone clients, and codecs), Enterprise solutions (complete SIP IP PBX, presence, proxy, and media server solutions), carrier solutions (SIP proxy and presence solutions) as well as SIP interoperability testing solutions and activities.

SIPfoundry was established in March 2004. Since then, two significant and related efforts have taken shape: a) The sipXecs Enterprise Communications Server project, and b) the sipXtapi User Agent SDK project.

SIPfoundry and its principals are very active contributors to the IETF SIP standardization efforts and cooperate with the SIP Forum on establishing a even more comprehensive set of SIP standards.

SIPfoundry is now seeking sponsors who support its efforts, including supporting SIPfoundry in its entirety, or supporting specific development tracks or individual projects. Sponsorship provides value in several ways: 1) association of your organization with the industry's leading community effort in the SIP communications market; 2) a low-risk, low-cost path to develop specific applications and get access to SIPfoundry technology for use with sponsor's customers or projects; and 3) a mechanism for sponsors to officially leverage standards-based IP communications applications and technologies to create market differentiations in an increasingly competitive market.

To facilitate sponsor participation, contributions and use of open source technology in commercial products, SIPfoundry has created a clear and unambiguous legal structure and licensing model compatible with increasingly stringent legal requirements required of professional organizations participating in open source efforts. Further, SIPfoundry is based upon strong governance principals that assure SIPfoundry's independence over the long term. Code provenance, an important element of any open source effort, is assured across all projects through contributor agreements administered by SIPfoundry.

Finally, SIPfoundry has adopted a strong privacy policy designed to protect its users and contributors.
