[edit] Creating a User in sipX ConfigServer

Login to the sipX ConfigServer as superadmin and create a user to be used with SJPhone. The field User ID represents the relevant name that needs to be configured in SJPhone for login purposes later on. Ideally you choose a name such as User ID = sjphone.

[edit] Configuring SJPhone

Install and start SJPhone. Per default SJPhone starts in PC to PC (SIP) mode. Follow the following steps to configure the phone (this configuration assumes that the server and phone are on the same subnet - no NAT traversal is used):

  1. Right click with the cursor somewhere inside the phone UI and select Options.
  2. Choose the Profiles tab
  3. Select New
  4. Create a new profile called sipx with profile type Calls through SIP proxy. Accept default filename and click OK
  5. Select the SIP Proxy tab and enter the following:
Proxy domain: domain name of your sipX server, port: 0 (The phone uses DNS SRV to find the server)
Check Register with proxy
Uncheck Proxy is strict ouotbound
Do not populate Advanced options
Leave the rest of the settings at default. Hit the OK button and it will ask for
Account: sjphone
Password: your chosen password in sipX ConfigServer
Click OK

You can change the account and password by reinitializing the profile.

When it's working, SJPhone's main display shows:

SIP: registered as sip:sjphone@your.domain
Host address: IP address of your PC

SJPhone chooses skins based on the profile in use. Therefore, you should not be surprised if a new skin is loaded as you re-initialize the phone using the new sipx profile.

You can verify that SJPhone registered with sipX by login into ConfigServer as the superadmin and then go to Registrations under Diagnostics.
